"Overpopulation in various countries has become a serious threat to the health of people and a grave obstacle to any attempt to organize peace on this planet." - Albert Einstein
The population is a term referring to a group of " species " living in the land area. So as the word says a group of "species", it means that both humans and animals live together and enjoy the resources equally. But are we even using them correctly or just reserving them for us and not sharing with others.
The reason why humans are not sharing their resources with animals is that the ratio of humans to animals is more. Humans are increasing day-by-day which emanates that they need more area to live and explore by taking away the animal's land (forest). Moreover, increased human being growth is not only affecting the animal but it is also eminently affecting everything in the world.
What are the major reasons behind Human Population Growth?
In India, as per the latest Sensex, the population growth of the country is around 135.28 crores in 2018 and making it the second-largest population in the world. And if we keep on going like this we will surely be the number one country in the next 10 years.
Reasons:-
1. Child = God Gift
In the Indian context, the child is treated as a gift by God especially a "boy child". If a child is born in India and already has 2 elder siblings which are the ideal number of children set by the government of India then that third child is taken as a " God Gift". But your question may be that how does that 3rd child affect the family. Let me address the answers and reality together. Having a third child you need more resources to fulfill their needs to achieve the parent's required employment and majorly a sustainable job. As we all know in India there are not enough jobs as compared to the working population and in the course of the corona time, there are pretty much lesser jobs than usual. All of these circumstances are for educated pollution who demand technical jobs.
On another hand the uneducated one who has the skill, not techniques and has kids more than 4 as per family, they need more resources to feed them which results in - pressure on the partners and children also. The elder child is demanded to work for the family. This "essential" demand may be right for the family but not for the children as their childhood is snatched and they are bumped to the adult world. Moreover, this demand does not only take away a child's childhood but also given some severe mental health problems that they might get hold of in their adult age. Children who are working at the early ages of their life are depressed, anxious, angry, and probably indulge in criminal offense because they anticipate
INDEPENDENCE = MONEY
≠ HAPPINESS.
2. Sex Education
"Sex" the most hush or hesitated word in the country. Most of the people feel uncomfortable even using the word. Well if they don't want to talk about sex and taking the child as a "Gift" and not a result of their actions. Hence, society puts some restrictions on Sex talk and also question the morality of the people who wanted to educate the society related to Sex, society demands them to shut and stay in their boxes. Therefore, there is minimal sex education in India which is "listed" in the textbooks of the students and not even explained briefly. So while having so much silence about sexual practices and by putting a sense of discomfort in individual minds, it creates a huge disturbance as they are not able to talk about it. These unanswered questions make a person so curious that they try to solve their questions by themselves. For the answers, they search it on the web, get influenced by the media and this consequently takes them to the wrong path. The media majorly fantasizes about sexual activities by making it "cool" for the audience and by showing the consequence of unprotected or unplanned sex. Unprotected sex does lead only to unwanted pregnancy but can cause some deadly SEXUAL TRANSMITTED DISEASES like HIV, AIDS, CERVICAL CANCER, and much more. Moreover, the lesser the knowledge we will have the greater will be the impact on one's life.
3. Some severe causes:
- Teen pregnancy- This is the most newly emerging topic in newer days. As now more and more teens are indulging in "relationships" and feel like they are madly in love and can do anything to secure their relationship. So in their hustle to keep the relationship they agree to involve in sexual activities without any knowledge about it.
- Marital Rape- Marriage in India is taken as the benchmark that indulges in sexual activity. It does not matter whether your partner wants or not. In most of the case, women consent is neglected after the marriage and resulted in a forced sex practice.
- Rape- Sex is included in the basic need of the human. So this demand can easily convert anyone to a monster as an individual becomes addicted to indulging in these practices.
- Unwanted pregnancy- Sometimes people indulge in sexual practices that may result in pregnancy. This will not only affect the life of the parent but also the life of a child.
Conclusion:
Population not only affects the family or society. It affects the environment and especially the well being of an innocent child and a person. So people should plan their family as its responsibility in the world.
